The world's largest container port operator is no longer seeking approval to operate in India after a series of protracted battles with the country's authorities, its chief executive has said.
John Meredith of Hong Kong's Hutchison Portswas also critical of the fees demanded by the Indiangovernment of operators wanting to enter thesmall but fast-growing market.
The stance puts Mr Meredith at odds with the rest of the world's top four container port operators, the AP M?ller-Maersk Group's APM Terminals, Singapore's PSA and Dubai's DP World, all of which operate in India.
