ORLANDO, Fla. — A single, ready-made infusion got rid of any detectable cancer cells in four multiple myeloma patients in Australia, Kelonia Therapeutics reported as part of its first clinical trial readout.
The infusion is designed to deliver the instructions for making CAR-T cells directly into the body, as opposed to the complex process of making traditional CAR-T treatments that involves removing and reinfusing a patient’s cells. The goal is to make a version of the cell therapies that is far more widely accessible and potentially less costly, and without the need for lymphodepletion.
