
Pioneering geological dating research has revealed a surprise at the heart of Stonehenge, the neolithic monument in southern England whose origins are shrouded in millennia of mystery.
The circular monument’s so-called Altar Stone — once believed to have been transported from Wales — is in fact from north-east Scotland, researchers have found.
