Two women detained in connection with the killing of Kim Jong Nam are to be charged with murder, Malaysia said yesterday, as North Korea ramped up the pressure on Kuala Lumpur to return the body of its supreme leader’s brother.
Mohamed Apandi Ali, Malaysia’s attorney-general, said the Indonesian and Vietnamese nationals would be charged today. Murder carries a mandatory death penalty in Malaysia.
Malaysian police arrested Doan Thi Huong, who is Vietnamese, and Siti Aishah, an Indonesian national, following an attack at Kuala Lumpur airport two weeks ago in which Kim’s face was smeared with poison.
