US prosecutors have accused Huawei of stealing technology from six unnamed American companies, adding fresh charges to its list of indictments against the Chinese telecoms equipment maker.
The US Department of Justice said on Thursday it was adding the charges to a wider indictment in which they have already accused the company of stealing technology from T-Mobile and breaking US sanctions on Iran.
The department said in a statement: “The new charges in this case relate to the alleged decades-long efforts by Huawei, and several of its subsidiaries, both in the US and in the People’s Republic of China, to misappropriate intellectual property, including from six US technology companies, in an effort to grow and operate Huawei’s business.”
