South Korea and the US will resume joint military exercises early next month in a move that could jeopardise burgeoning attempts at diplomacy on the Korean peninsula.
Defence officials in Seoul on Tuesday said the two allies would restart the Foal Eagle and Key Resolve drills, which were postponed while South Korea hosted last month’s Winter Olympic Games.
The long-running exercises typically provoke fury from North Korea, which views them as a rehearsal for a US invasion.
