Volkswagen and its joint venture partners in China will recall 4.86m vehicles in the country because of faulty airbags, China’s quality watchdog has said.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the airbags were made by Takata, the Japanese automotive supplier at the centre of a global recall of exploding airbags. The recall will begin in March 2018.
Earlier this month, the Chinese regulator said that more than 1.8m Volkswagen cars with faulty fuel pumps would be recalled.
