North Korea has held its first start-up fair in a university auditorium where students pitched business plans with slick PowerPoint presentations.
That was about the only thing it had in common with such events in other countries, where youthful entrepreneurs hope to secure investment and publicity en route to creating the next Uber or Airbnb.
Conspicuous by their absence from Pyongyang Start-up Week were start-ups and investors. Instead six foreign professors were running seminars for students who then made products out of modelling clay and practised their presentation style.
