North Korea has fired two ballistic missiles out to sea from its east coast in what appears to be the most successful test of its mid-range Musudan rocket to date.
According to defence ministries in South Korea and Japan, the first launch took place from at 5.58am local time from the port city of Wonsan, followed by a second launch at 8.03am.
The tests will heighten regional concern about the security threat from Pyongyang as it pushes ahead with its nuclear weapons programme and seeks to deliver them via ballistic missiles.
