Samsung has closed its flagship retail store in London, in the first sign the Korean manufacturer may be stepping away from ambitious plans to challenge Apple’s dominance on the UK high street.
The company began disassembling its “Experience Store” in the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford overnight, posting a notice to customers about the store’s immediate closure. It had been seen as its main retail base in the country, playing host to a number of product launches in the past year.
Since April Samsung has opened around 10 stores across the UK, after launching more than 20 others across Europe including Germany, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden.
