Corruption in China has worsened dramatically over the past year despite a vicious two-year campaign by the ruling Communist party that has snared hundreds of thousands of allegedly corrupt officials.
China came in at number 100, tied with Algeria and Suriname, in the annual Transparency International Corruption Perception Index survey of 175 countries, which was published on Wednesday and ranks states from least to most corrupt.
That marked a sharp fall from China’s rank of 80 in 2013.
