The pro-Beijing march that clogged Hong Kong’s streets on Sunday has sparked accusations and counter-claims from all sides of the former British colony’s political reform debate.
The anti-Occupy Central rally drew allegations of bribing marchers to attend, disputes over the protest’s size and suggestions of an over-representation of mainland Chinese rather than Hong Kong locals.
Official police figures for the march placed it as larger than July’s pro-democracy rally – 110,600 compared with the Occupy Central movement rally’s 98,600 last month.
