Jeff Bezos of Amazon is making his first significant investment in the news media by leading a $5m financing package for the six-year old Business Insider website.
The move was announced on Friday by Henry Blodget, chief executive of Business Insider, who said that Mr Bezos, founder and chief executive of Amazon, “sees some parallels” between his ecommerce company and Business Insider.
Mr Bezos will invest via Bezos Expeditions, a personal investment company that has put money into a range of digital companies and futuristic projects, including a clock designed to keep time accurately for the next 10,000 years.
