EDF Energy has insisted its plans to build up to four nuclear reactors in the UK would not be derailed by the decision of Centrica, its partner, to pull out of the project.
EDF is in talks with a number of Chinese groups, including China Guangdong Nuclear Power , on taking Centrica’s place.
However, Vincent de Rivaz, EDF Energy’s chief executive, said in an interview that the company would be able to attract another partner only if the UK government ensured an adequate price for nuclear-generated electricity.
