Kim Jong Un’s train has been spotted leaving Beijing, according to a Reuters report, wrapping up a three-day visit by the North Korean leader at the invitation of China’s president Xi Jinping.
The two leaders are expected to have discussed denuclearisation and North Korean economic reforms but neither China nor North Korea have issued a formal read-out of the meeting yet. Mr Kim was accompanied by a retinue that included his wife, Ri Sol Ju, and senior diplomats.
Mr Kim visited China three times last year – the first trip in March was the first time he had ventured beyond North Korea’s borders since becoming its top leader – in an effort to shore up North Korea’s relationship with its largest trading partner.
