Chinese importers are buying US soyabeans again after a long hiatus, a sign that Beijing is following through on commitments made as part of its trade truce with Washington.
In the past 24 hours between 1.5m and 2m tonnes of US soyabean have been sold to China, said the US Soybean Export Council, a trade promotion body. The council attributed its information to “sources in the marketplace.”
The soyabeans would be shipped in the first three months of 2019, mostly through Pacific Ocean ports on the US north-west coast, the council said.
