Cnooc has fallen foul of the oil price rout.
The state-owned company said that its revenues from oil and natural gas output fell 4.6 per cent to Rmb53.6bn in the three months to September 30 from a year earlier.
The black stuff is currently trading at $86.4 a barrel, having been depressed by lacklustre global growth and a surge in US production.
