Qantas was planning to end a dramatic grounding of its aircraft today, after a labour relations tribunal ordered a stop to industrial action at the Australian flag-carrier.
After the tribunal ruling early on Monday local time, Qantas said that it wanted to resume flights as quickly as possible.
Alan Joyce, Qantas chief executive, had taken the extraordinary step on Saturday of grounding the airline’s fleet in response to a series of damaging strikes. In a major escalation of Qantas’s dispute with three trade unions over pay and a restructuring of the airline, he had also proposed a worker lockout from today.
