The day after US Republicans suffered brutal setbacks in local and state elections, Donald Trump put on a brave face at the main sports and entertainment arena in downtown Miami.
“We have the greatest economy right now. A lot of people don’t see that,” the president told the audience of business executives and investors, as well as his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff, his special envoy, and Princess Reema Bandar, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US on Wednesday.
Trump touted record highs in the US stock market, solid growth, and the proliferation of “AI buildings” popping up across the country. He also proclaimed “prices are coming down very fast” — even though the annual consumer price index was rising by 3 per cent, according to the latest monthly data for September, the same rate it was when he took office in January.
